Ashley looks after the SDE’s secure cloud computing platform. This includes the complaint data workflows and secure technical services that enable approved researchers to access, manage and analyse data safely within the SDE.
Dr Ashley Heinson
Dr Ashley Heinson leads the secure technical services that support the SDE, overseeing research workspaces, infrastructure, data extraction processes, analytical workflows and day-to-day technical operations. His role ensures approved projects can run safely, reliably and at scale.
Ashley is a bioinformatician with experience across academia, translational research and industry. He has a PhD in reverse vaccinology at the University of Southampton, and has developed expertise in bioinformatics, machine learning, omics, clinical data workflows and secure computing environments. His work brings together technical depth, reproducible research methods and responsible data handling.
Ashley leads the AXIS team within the University of Southampton’s Clinical Informatics Research Unit (CIRU), providing specialist informatics expertise and operational support for secure research environments.
