Will Jennings is Professor of Political Science and Public Policy at the University of Southampton and Associate Dean (Research & Enterprise) in the Faculty of Social Sciences. His research explores how citizens judge government performance, legitimacy and competence, with a focus on the politics of public trust and what makes institutions worthy of confidence. He leads the ESRC-funded TrustGov programme on trust and trustworthiness in national and global governance, and is co-author of The Politics of Competence and The Good Politician. On the Wessex SDE Data Access Committee, he brings an evidence-led perspective on public confidence, helping ensure decisions about data use are transparent, publicly defensible and grounded in clear public benefit.
