Cai Davis
Cai Davis leads on data and technology for the Wessex SDE. He oversees the platforms, data tools and data assets that underpin secure research using NHS data. His work includes platform architecture, data engineering, artificial intelligence tooling, reusable code, technical standards and study-specific services.
Originally trained as a biochemist, Cai has worked across toxicology, forensic science, operations, business intelligence and health data science. He brings scientific training, technical architecture and delivery management experience to the development of practical data services for researchers and NHS partners.
Cai also leads the Data & AI Research (DAIR) Unit at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, connecting the SDE with applied work on scalable analytical data flows, machine learning, cohort discovery and clinical data at scale.
